4 Favorite Shelter Magazines To Explore

Hello. I hope you are staying safe and healthy during this challenging time with all the COVID restrictions. Luckily, I was able to keep Urban Loft going from home and we were able to resume installations on May 1. We are wearing masks and limiting the amount of clients we come in contact with at one time. So far, so good. Other than that, I am staying home and going out only to take walks and go grocery shopping. I have been spending a lot of time reading and feeding my addiction to shelter magazines.

I want to share 4 of my favorite online home magazines, reads that will surely keep you occupied for many hours with delightful interiors and interesting stories.

LONNY MAGAZINE

I have always loved Lonny Magazine. I get lost in their pages and I am endlessly inspired by all the beautiful interiors, interesting stories and their awesome insider tips. When you don’t have time to read a book, magazines are a perfect alternative.

RUE MAGAZINE

I discovered Rue around the same time as Lonny. I was blogging full-time back in 2010 and I went to a blogging conference where I met Rue’s founder, interior designer Crystal Palecek. If that name rings a bell it’s because her husband and his family are the founders of the beloved interiors brand Palecek.

Just a little side note, conferences are great to make connections. At that same conference I also met the founder of Pinterest, Ben Silbermann, when he was just getting started. I am inspired by how far they have come in ten years.

apartment therapy

Apartment Therapy is chock full of useful hacks and DIY tips. I was reading through recently and I found this story on Crystal Nielsen’s 700 SF apartment in NYC that she used to live in with her husband and 2 kids. She has since moved to another adorable apartment with her husband and 3 kids and I worked with her on selecting her window treatments. She is so talented and makes a family home out of an apartment with limited space, which is the norm for so many young families in NYC and other large cities. Go here Crystal Ann Interiors to see her latest apartment.

DOMINO MAGAZINE

Last but not least is Domino Mag, which I have been obsessed with since it came out many years ago. I always loved the layout, the colorful covers and their design, lifestyle and entertaining pieces. My favorite part is that my work has been featured in its digital version twice, true “dream come true” moments. I owe this honor to two amazing women, Ulrica Wihlborg and Elizabeth Messina, rock stars in their respective fields. Click on their names to read their stories. Click on Aurora James’ photo above to see how you can support her initiative.

That’s it for now. It is Sunday and I have a little work to do and I have to go for a walk and enjoy the sun.

Thank you for reading. xocc
